About Wally
After celebrating his 40th wedding anniversary in Hawaii, Wally thought life was grand. However, when his mother-in-law asked him, "What's wrong with Ninfa?" he realized things were about to change. Ninfa began having health problems that landed her in the hospital. After Ninfa's first hospital stay, Wally began his journey as a caregiver; the doctor told him to monitor Ninfa closely. And when she collapsed on the sidewalk, Wally knew something was seriously wrong and brought her back to the hospital. After undergoing additional testing, Ninfa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

- Caregiver to Millennium Multiple Myeloma Ambassador Ninfa
Although Wally was frightened by his wife's diagnosis, he was determined to stand by her and help her fight her multiple myeloma. Together, they evaluated all of Ninfa's treatment options, and throughout the treatment, he used notebooks to keep track of all the medications that filled their kitchen cabinet. He also created journals for his wife to read later.
Today, Ninfa is doing well with Wally as her caregiver and best friend. As a Millennium Multiple Myeloma Ambassador, he hopes to encourage people living with multiple myeloma and their loved ones as they face cancer together.
